‘Rising Sphere’
Art for After Hours had a great time at the Lewiston Art Festival bringing the work of Anthony Cappetto’s chalk art and 4D augmented reality to the public.
The chalk art depicts the Niagra River and local scenery while the animated augmented reality shows a rising sphere, a digitally drawn backdrop featuring ‘The Spirit of Victory’ local statue, moving clouds, floating spheres (from the statue base), corporate sponsor logos all seen only through our animated and still augmented reality - completed with the ambient sound of rushing water for a blended, immersive experience for the attendees.
The floating spheres in the AR backdrop and the animation in the water at forefront came from the sphere present in the statue and the spheres floating was inspired by Surrealist Rene Magritte’s ‘The Voice of Space’ (1932).
Chalk artwork 10’ x 16’, two days to complete. Animation and other augmented reality aspects longer based on design, complexity, interaction, and effects.

Anthony Cappetto, Founder and Artist of Art for After Hours created an augmented reality demonstration in Washington Square Park (as part of a larger segment on street art) on a freezing morning in mid December 2021. Many people came by to say hello and see our augmented reality with hand drawn chalk in New York City.
The 4D illusion was seen through our setup turned out great and the finished segment was broadcast in Germany and throughout Europe.
We had to wait until now (late April 2022) to share publicly between segment production and the onset of the war in Ukraine but it was worth the wait. Special thanks to Igor Rosenfeld, Chefreporter and everyone at JanusTV for inviting me to be in their program!
Watch for the AR steaming coffee pour at the end of the segment for a ‘New York’ feel!

‘Sunflowers and Bees - For Our Artist Friends’ at 2022 Chalk Festival in Venice, Florida
‘Sunflowers and Bees - For our Artist Friends’ An augmented reality 4D chalk art installation realized live at the 2022 Chalk Festival in Venice, Florida April 1-3.
Thinking of not only the war that has brought near unspeakable horror known only until recently in the minds and experiences of the oldest members of our world society, but for artist friends the street painting community (that we belong to) share and we have worked alongside in the USA and Europe over the years. The Festival Theme was ‘Resilience’, sunflowers are resilient, bloom, and grow large annually. They are fitting as the National Flower of the Ukrainian People. This project was created concurrently with traditional dry chalk on pavement, augmented reality in the form of a prepainted canvas (the standing sunflowers in the blue box beyond the chalk art), rigged and animated buzzing bees moving between the drawn pavement chalk and the AR illusion beyond.
This art is dedicated to the People of Ukraine. May this war end.
